Medicine Wheel Project Update

This mind/body health initiative, carried out in partnership with the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community with support of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Michigan Foundation, is now in its final phase with a compilation and analysis of health bio-markers.

Dr. Helen Kahn, PhD, is providing a summary of the impact (lab reports and participants’ surveys) of this 2017-2018 Project which appropriated 4 stress reduction strategies to address particular challenges facing Native Americans diagnosed with Type II Diabetes.

By September 1, 2018, a summary report of this project will be submitted to the KBIC Tribal Council and the Director of the tribe’s Health Systems. Copies of appropriate records and documents are also being submitted to the BCBS Michigan Foundation Offices and will be available at that time.
