Community Members Join in Conversation with Faith and Greg Timmons

Faith and Greg Timmons

On April 20, 2018, thirty students and community members met at Northern Michigan University to join in conversation with Faith and Greg Timmons, two United Methodist African-American clergy who currently serve at the forefront of interfaith efforts in Flint, Michigan, organizing distribution of clean water to that city’s residents. During 2014-2018 over 12,000 children in Flint experienced lead poisoning from Flint’s municipal water supply.

Later that evening, over 80 community members gathered to hear Faith and Greg talk personally about their journey. Michael Waite, Patrick Booth and Nathan Meadows provided music for the evening. Among those present were four members from Marquette’s homeless shelter and eleven religious leaders. Pictured below is long-time friend and retired social worker Ken Kelley, representing the Cedar Tree Institute. Also in this photo, taken after the evening reception, are members of the Water Stewards Strategic Volunteer Team surrounding Timmons family.
