  • An overview of the essential role of forests and trees in planetary health.
  • Journal readings from 17th century Jesuit priests who first explored this region of the Great Lakes.
  • Perspectives from wild-land forest fire fighters and commercial foresters.
  • Reflections on trees as symbols from diverse religious traditions.
  • Opportunities for rest, solitude, and time in contemplative prayer.
  • On our last morning together, participants are invited to collectively plant 100 cedar trees in the Yellow Dog River Community Forest.

3 Nights Lodging at the historic Thunder Bay Inn in Big Bay, Michigan
9 Meals including dinners at two cabins near the shores of Lake Superior
Transportation provided for on-site activities – if traveling by air

PLEASE NOTE: As Marquette/KI/Sawyer airport has suddenly limited it’s flight options, we will be offering – first come/first serve – transportation from O’Hare Airport/Chicago area leaving Wednesday the 19th at 8 a.m. C.T. and returning to Chicago on Saturday the 22nd by 10 p.m. C.T.
