Join us in Chicago or New Mexico for The Watercourse Way, a three day retreat on mindfulness practices, Tai Chi Chuan, and the writings of Thomas Merton. Some of you may be aware that this is the 100th commemoration of Merton’s birth. He is regarded as one of the most influential, insightful and spiritual voices of the 20th Century.
Each retreat has been intentionally designed for two different settings.
The first – in June – is scheduled for Chicago’s Northside, at Cenacle Sisters (Roman Catholic) Retreat Center, a few blocks from Lake Michigan.
The second – in November – will be held in the foothills of the Sangre de Christo Mountains, 23 miles East of Santa Fe at the Pecos Benedictine Monastery. Transportation will be provided for participants (who wish) from the Historic District in Santa Fe.
Each participant at both retreats will have their own room, unless he or she prefers another option. Qi Gong ( a Chinese mind/body practice for health) will be offered each day and participants will have the option to learn one/or two simplified Tai Chi forms over the course of our time together. Merton’s exploration of the relationship of Buddhism and Christianity, along with writings of Thich Nhat Hanh, will provide points of reflection. A specific series of gentle mindfulness practices and silence will shape the retreat format.
Our time frame runs from 4 P.M on Thursday and concludes at 2 P.M. on Sunday. Since space is limited, we encourage those interested to sign up as soon as possible. Each retreat includes three nights lodging and nine meals. A deposit of $250 is requested for each workshop and is due by the registration deadline. Payment can be done by credit card via Paypal or by check.
We look forward to a balancing, grounding and creative time together with you.
