Since 2004, Marquette County has been dramatically transformed by the international mining industry’s introduction of a sulfide (nickel) mine in Powell Township. Jobs have been created but habitat altered, wetlands and forests destroyed. Family homes, once remote, are now shadowed by trucks, bulldozers, noise, and lights.

Benediction will be a quiet, reverent time for community members who wish to mourn. And recommit to preserve what is left of our beloved land and her peoples.
